It is said that knowledge is power. Certainly, financial knowledge gives people the power to manage their money and succeed in life. However, millions of New York State residents—especially those who are disadvantaged—can often find no place from which to gain this knowledge. Credit unions have filled the gap. Through hands-on activities, scholarships, internships, free seminars—even the creation of in-school branches staffed by students—credit unions have reached millions of New Yorkers not only providing information but empowering them.
