Award Categories

Outstanding Young Professional
Outstanding young professionals further the credit union "people helping people" philosophy every day. As the next generation of credit union leaders, they demonstrate their passion for credit unions through hard work, dedication, success and engagement in the credit union movement.

Asset Categories: There are no asset categories for this award, as only one winner is named each year.

Guidelines/Eligibility: Paid employees of Association member credit unions, age 35 and younger, may be nominated for this award. Credit Union Association of New York employees, board members, awards committee members and award winners from the three previous years are not eligible for nomination.


Outstanding Professional
Outstanding professionals further the credit union "people helping people" philosophy every day. They demonstrate their passion for credit unions through hard work, dedication and success.

Asset Categories: Nominees are divided into the following asset categories, with winners named in each: less than $50 million, $50-$250 million, and more than $250 million.

Guidelines/Eligibility: Paid employees of Association member credit unions may be nominated. Credit Union Association of New York employees, board members, awards committee members and award winners from the three previous years are not eligible for nomination.


Outstanding Volunteer
Outstanding volunteers exemplify commitment to their credit unions and are true "stars" in their credit unions. Throughout their tenure as volunteers, they have consistently embodied the "people helping people" philosophy and promoted the success of their credit unions and their members.

Asset Categories: Nominees are divided into the following asset categories, with winners named in each: less than $50 million, $50-$250 million, and more than $250 million.

Guidelines/Eligibility: Unpaid credit union directors, credit committee members or supervisory committee members at Association member credit unions may be nominated. Credit Union Association of New York employees, board members and awards committee members, as well as award winners from the three previous years, are not eligible for nomination.


New York Credit Union Hall of Fame Inductee
New York Credit Union Hall of Fame members have devoted their lives to the philosophy and success of the credit union movement, and they have made a significant impact on credit unions at the local, state and/or national levels. Their life efforts have been instrumental in improving and promoting credit unions and the credit union movement.

Asset Categories: There are no asset categories for this award.

Guidelines/Eligibility: Nominees must currently be affiliated with a Credit Union Association of New York member credit union (via employment or volunteering), and Hall of Fame nominees must have been affiliated with Association member credit unions.

Nominees may still serve in a voluntary capacity with a credit union, but they are not required to be currently involved at the state or national level. Individuals may also be honored posthumously. Credit Union Association of New York employees, board members and awards committee members are not eligible for nomination.


Nomination Notification Form
If your credit union is planning to nominate an individual for any of the above awards, please complete and submit a Nomination Notification Form as soon as possible. This will help us plan for the evaluation process and ensure your nomination is received.

Individual Nomination Form
All Individual Recognition Award nomination entries must be completed and finalized by submitting an Individual Nomination Form. This form can be submitted online (as noted on the form) or printed and mailed with substantiating documentation.

  • April 8: Credit Union Recognition Award winners honored at State GAC
  • Mid-April: Individual Recognition Award winners notified
  • June 21: Individual Recognition Award winners honored at Convention (Credit Union Recognition Award winners also recognized)
