NYCUF, NEFE hosting financial training sessions next month
Credit unionists and community educators can learn how to utilize NEFE's High School Financial Planning Program (HSFPP) during one-day sessions hosted by the New York Credit Union Foundation (NYCUF) and NEFE next month.
Two sessions are scheduled, including:
- July 18 at The Summit FCU, 100 Marina Dr., Rochester, N.Y. ; and
- July 23 at Teachers FCU, 102 Motor Pkwy, Hauppauge, N.Y.
Each session will be held from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., and the registration fee is $30. Attendees may apply for NYCUF Professional Development grants to assist with registration costs.
The sessions will provide an overview of NEFE's award-winning High School Financial Planning Program, which is designed to equip students in grades 8-12 with fundamental personal finance skills. Attendees will also: learn about various NEFE web resources; explore each of the curriculum's six modules; and formulate an implementation plan.

Calling all CUs: What's your ‘why?'
The Credit Union Association of New York is launching a new initiative on Facebook, and the goal is simple: to celebrate all the reasons people love being part of the credit union movement.
To participate, credit union professionals, volunteer leaders and system providers are invited to:
- Write a short explanation about why they love being part of the credit union movement, including their full name and credit union/organization name at the bottom.
- Have a photo taken while holding the "why" sign, ensuring that it's close enough for viewers to read the sign.
- Email the photo (large size preferred) to firstname.lastname@example.org, including full name and credit union/organization name in the email.
Submitted photos will be posted on the Association's Facebook wall and added to a special Facebook photo album.
Submissions received by July 26 will automatically be entered in a random drawing for a $100 VISA gift card (held July 29), and the Association will donate $5 to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals for every photo received through July 26.
