Registration open for Compliance & Legal Conference

Credit union professionals can now register for Credit Union Association of New York's 2013 Compliance & Legal Conference. The popular event will be held Sept. 10-11 at Turning Stone Casino and Resort in Verona, N.Y.

The agenda will focus on key credit union issues, including: the regulatory process and the importance of regulatory advocacy, legal trends impacting the industry, proposed regulations and recent final rules, and HR/employment law issues. A panel discussion on best practices for preventing elder financial abuse will also be held.

SEFCU President/CEO named to Fed Advisory Council

Michael Castellana, SEFCU president/CEO, has been named a member of the Federal Reserve Board's Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council (CDIAC) for 2014. Castellana, who currently leads the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's CDIAC, is one of two credit union representatives chosen to serve on the national council.

The 12-member CDIAC advises the Federal Reserve Board on the economy, lending conditions and other issues. Members are selected from representatives of commercial banks, thrift institutions and credit unions serving on local advisory councils at the 12 Federal Reserve Banks. The council meets twice each year with the Federal Reserve Board in Washington.


NCUA hosting Buffalo workshop next month
